"Power" is the title of a song by Katy Perry from her fifth studio album, Witness. Perry teased this track twice through her Instagram story by singing along to it while in a car. The song was originally referred to by fans as "Goddess" before being officially revealed during the album's listening party in Berlin, Germany. She said the song is about taking back your power if you feel like you aren't treated the way you should be because we've got that power. The track contains excerpts from "Being with You" written and performed by Smokey Robinson.
Perry has brought up the lyrics to the song on several occasions, specifically the line "Hell hath no fury like a woman reborn". The lyric was used during an Instagram post Perry made in December 2016 where she declares she will use her voice to speak up on the problems happening around the world on her fourth studio album. She also held up a poster containing the lyric with a background of a lotus flower during the Women's March 2017. Before official production credits for Witness were revealed, Jack Garratt tweeted the lyrics "you can't quiet this thunder, no" indicating he had a hand on the song's creation. Garratt also tweeted a little background story about how his collaboration with Perry came to be saying, "about 2 yrs ago, [Katy Perry] tweeted about my song The Love You're Given. 2 yrs later, I am proud to call her a friend, and collaborator ⚡️".
