"Peacock" is a song written by Katy Perry, Ester Dean, and Stargate for Perry's sophomore mainstream album, Teenage Dream. Perry said the song is an example of her "fucked up humor" because the message of the song is clearly saying that she wants to see her boyfriend's penis.
The song was not supposed to land on Teenage Dream, as her record label were not too fond of her referring to a male’s genitalia as a "peacock".

Perry also said about the song during the unavailing of her album artwork that, "It's just a silly play on words. Peacock: It's an obvious innuendo, and I love an obvious innuendo."
The song was met with generally negative reviews from the media though it managed to chart at number fifty-nine in Canada and number one on the U.S. Hot Dance Club Songs chart following the album's release. In worldwide countries the song reached #52 in the Czech Republic, and #125 on the UK Singles Chart. It has also sold over 400,000 copies in the US despite never being a single or a promotional single.
Background
According to Perry, the whole point of writing the song was to play with words since she loves innuendos. Midway through recording the album, Perry recalled saying to the people she was working with: "Look I've got a lot of jewels, but I really don't have the crown. I really don't have that full-blown presentation". So she then decided to get back into the studio and work with Stargate, a production team co-producing Teenage Dream, during a late-night session and made several more songs. Of these were "Firework" and "Peacock".
Perry said about the song: "I’m hoping it will be a gay-pride anthem, Peacocks represent a lot of individuality.... It’s not just like, 'I wanna see your bulge.'" And then she went on to clarify: "It does have the word cock in it, but art is also in fart! It’s all in how you look at it".
