BackgroundEdit

For the promotion of Perry's album Teenage Dream, she announced that a European and Oceania tour during 2011. She is currently still promoting the album with singles, but is due not to set up the tour. She will be commencing the tour first in Lisbon, Portugal and as far as been told, She will end the tour in Auckland, New Zealand on May 8, 2011. She will make her debut in New Zealand for the first time and once only, however, due to tickets been overloaded, it has scheduled to release a new tour date in New Zealand. Tickets for the UK leg sold out on the first day of sale.

I guess I'm looking forward to making music videos on this new album ... and I'm really excited about incorporating the look and the idea of some of the songs on tour and making a massive production of it. I'm gonna want a lot of visuals. I want it to be 10 times better than when I was on tour last.

While promoting her recent album, Perry express she wanted her upcoming tour to be very visual. On her Twitter account, she stated, "I hope that it's going to engage all of your senses: sight, sound, smell, taste, touch". The tour was officially announced in October 2010 by various media outlets including Perry's official website, in conjunction with the release of her third single, "Firework".

Perry further stated she will actively participate with fans during the tour on various social networks including Facebook and Twitter.

Calvin Harris was advertised to be the opening acts for Perry in the United Kingdom & Ireland. On March 27, 2011, Perry announced via Twitter Harris was no longer involved with the tour. He cites technical restrictions as the reason for his cancellation. He was replaced by DJ Skeet Skeet.

named Katy who lives in a colorless world wasting her life cutting meat for a mean old butcher, even though she loves sweets and her biggest dream is to work as a baker. One night, Katy explains to her pet cat, Kitty Purry, that she is desperate to leave her colorless world in seek for adventure and wonder. So, that night, a tornado strucks and blows her house into a vibrant, brightly-colored candy wonderland. She awakens that morning and escapes her dreadful reality by chasing Kitty Purry out the cat door and into the candy land. She starts to search for Kitty and also for the love of her life, the Baker's Boy, played by former What I Like About You star Nick Zano. Katy appears on stage and starts performing "Teenage Dream" with her dancers, while wearing a white dress with rotating peppermint candy (yet this was replaced with another outfit after a malfunction). "Hummingbird Heartbeat" and "Waking Up in Vegas" are performed next, the latter accompanied by a human slot machine (played by Leah-Dancer), showgirls and an Elvis Presley impersonator. She leaves the stage briefly for a costume change while a video interlude shows Katy taking a shortcut that leads her into a candy forest and while skimming her surroundings for Kitty Purry, she runs into two naughty mimes who join her on stage to perform "Ur So Gay". At the end of the performance, Katy takes a bite of their magical brownie and passes out. Perry then makes a wardrobe change on stage, trading her skirt for a feathered tail while she begins to perform "Peacock", an elaborated feathered fan dance number. Perry continues with "I Kissed a Girl" in vampy torch-singer garb, prefacing the song by bringing a guy from the audience on stage to flirt and kiss. After that, she is shocked and learns that her husband came to the concert to suprised her and witnessed her kiss. So, she becomes tipsy and heavy and is carried off stage by dancers.

In the next section, a video interlude shows Katy trying to pull Kitty Purry's tail out of a bush, only to discover the tail is hers - revealing that the mimes' brownie has transformed Katy into a catwoman, a plan executed by the evil butcher all along. "Circle the Drain" gets performed as hambones and strings of sausage hang above while Perry battles her dancers who are dressed as butchers before going into "E.T." with neon laser beams running across the stage while a futuristic lyrics video is projected on the screens. The show continues with "Who Am I Living For" in which she is strapped up by her dancers with elastic strings and is left in the ground defeated. She is then saved by her two backup singers and moves into "Pearl," at one moment she is lifted on the air sitting in the backs of two aerialists. After a brief video interlude where Katy sadly sees a happy couple share a moment of affection, Katy reappears on stage sitting on a swing to perform "Not Like the Movies". During the performance, Katy is lifted high above the stage as images of classic cartoon characters kissing are projected behind her. Katy descends and picks her guitar to perform a beautiful acoustic version of "The One That Got Away". Then she goes on to performing a medley of her favorite karaoke songs which includes Rihanna's "Only Girl (In the World)", Jay Z's "Big Pimpin'", and Willow Smith's "Whip My Hair" while interacting with the public. A giant pink colored cloud descends to the stage and Perry gets on top of it, straps her self to a candy cane on it and she is then elevated above the crowd and performs "Thinking of You" to her fans with her guitar. The next section begins with another video interlude where Katy finally finds

Kitty Purry and is now headed to the Big Bakers City Ball, wearing a magestic blue wig to meet her lover, the Baker's Boy. Undecided on what to wear, Katy starts performing "Hot n Cold", magically going through seven costume changes where she learned from American Idol and

bursting immediately into "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)". During this song, photos of fans are displayed on the screens. This is followed by a cover of Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance with Somebody", in which Perry and her cat Kitty Purry invite up to 20 fans onto the stage at the end of the number to dance. After a high-energy and sparkly performance of "Firework" the encore begins with the final interlude of the show, which reveals that Katy has been dreaming all along when suddenly the Baker's Boy enters her bedroom dressed in a gingerbread costume to deliver the cupcakes she ordered for breakfast and starts dancing goofily. Perry returns to the stage for a performance of "California Gurls" dressed in a silver bra shaped like Hershey's Kisses, dancing with a line of Gingerbread men, and dousing the crowd with whip cream and water bazookas. At the end, Perry and the dancers bow to the audience as the curtain falls down.
